Dyed and undyed Merino wool, undyed Blue Faced Leicester wool. Wet felted.
This is a wet felted portrait inspired by the character of Steerpike in the renown books of Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake. His ghastly appearance is underlined by expressionist-style features: in particular, his huge flower-like red hands and enormous whitish head with its big bloodshot eyes. His hunched up shoulders are also characteristic of Steerpike. He is set against the stony background of grey ancient Gormenghast itself. The background is dominated by horizontal greys with a few black and brown accents.
This small portrait (around 37x35 cm in size, unmounted) will stand out and define a small space.
