Dyed and undyed Merino wool, undyed Blue Faced Leicester wool, recycled sari silk fibres, mix of Alpaca Camel Merino and Mulberry silk fibres, recycled wool scraps. Wet felted.
This is a wet felted portrait inspired by the character of Nanni Slagg in the renown books of Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake. Her big hat takes centre stage against a grey, black and brown background. Her most notable piece of clothing gets the importance that she wished, prominently showing the ridiculous and incongruous green glass beads on it. By contrast her features are almost vanishing into the grey background with the grey stones of her home.
This small portrait (around 36x31 cm in size, unmounted) will stand out and define a small space.

This piece is part of the "Gormenghast" series by the artist.
